Just so we’re clear: Jim Carey forcibly kissed a teenage Alicia Silverstone without her consent at an awards show. Was not punished. Adrien Brody forcibly kissed Halle Berry at an award show without her consent. Also was not punished. John Wayne had to be physically held back from attacking Sacheen Littlefeather at the Oscars. Was not punished. Roman Polanski was given an Oscar in abstention because if he came to collect the award in person, he would have been arrested due to his conviction for statutory rape. Was not removed from the academy until 2018. Casey Affleck was given an Oscar shortly after he was accused to sexual harassment. Woody Allen has been nominated and awarded several times by the academy despite allegations of molestation being public since the 1990s.

I need people to know this isn’t just some ha ha funny moment, this is someone standing up against ableism in the most direct way possible on national television.
Let’s acknowledge that this was misogynoir as well as ableism. You cannot ignore the historical and cultural meaning of humiliating a Black woman for her hair, be it because of a condition or for any other reason. Especially from a comedian who’s made a career out of misogynoir.
i just found out this week that my asshole of a landlord is raising my rent by 300 PLN ( = €65) which is. literally 20% of what i’m paying now. anyway, i have less than a month to find a new place, which would be a bloody hard enterprise even if we weren’t currently dealing with a severe shortage of housing options brought about by the most recent refugee crisis. the very crisis which the warsovian landlord are now shamelessly exploiting by skyrocketing their prices and fucking over their old tenants and newly arriving refugees alike. pardon my french, but oh, i am very much fucked.
if anybody feels so inclined, i do have a ko-fi account & each tip would be tremendously helpful. however, i realise that we’re all a bunch of broke twenty-somethings, so please — don’t feel pressured to donate! while my current financial situation is indeed far from ideal, i am fortunate enough to have a support system, so even the worst case scenario would be me pausing my studies & moving back to my hometown instead of ending up out on the streets; i know that there’s a lot of people who do not have that kind of privilege. also, i’ve been considering doing commissions again? it might be difficult now that i’m juggling two degrees, but we’ll see!
also the ‘triggered’ jokes have been detrimental to ptsd recovery. there’s no way I can talk about my triggers without feeling Cringe. it’s especially funny because the people making these jokes always said “we’re making fun of people who use the term INCORRECTLY”, but here’s me using it correctly and still thinking of the memes 👁👄👁
while it’s important to be aware that individual consumers are not responsible for climate change/cannot be expected to make a difference simply through changing their consumption habits, and it’s important to name the primary drivers and culprits of climate change i.e. corporations and the wealthy, i also think there needs to be more awareness that climate change is still driven by the general capitalist lifestyle lived by all of us in the global north, and that to put an end to climate change will mean drastically changing and restructuring that lifestyle and not just “getting rid of the corporations/billionaires” or whatever. no, individuals especially working-class individuals aren’t “at fault” or “responsible” for climate change, but be really really wary of this rhetoric that reduces combatting climate change down to “guillotine the billionaires” (more will take their place) or “get rid of the big corporations” (those are an integral part of our current fucked-up society and to get rid of them we need to restructure society). complete decolonization and overthrow of capitalism is the only way forward

It’s still got a transphobic message obviously but notice how they only say “the original tweet analytics” meaning this is less likely specific reactions and much more likely just. All engagement with that tweet. As in, statistically impossible to be all TERFs. This is harmful to otherwise spread around. Please do your own research folks!
